We are currently looking for a:

Supervisor - full time / part time / casual...but must be able to work evenings and weekends

Ebdons is a small European-style coffee shop & bar and we are open during the daytimes and evenings. We are passionate about local food, craft beer, great wine and quality coffee made with care.

You are mature, flexible and as passionate as we are about food and drink. You need hospitality experience (barista and bar experience is essential, experience of food preparation is desirable), and are reliable and responsible. You will be working as part of a small team including the owners and colleagues who have a diverse range of interests outside their work here and who support each other. You must be available to start immediately and happy to work in the evenings and at weekends (some day shifts will be required but this is primarily an evening role).

The role includes a range of responsibilities, including (but not limited to):

  • Ensuring that customers enjoy their time at Ebdons and have positive experiences of our service and products – both through your own work and by supervising the work of your colleagues to make sure that they do the same

  • Knowing about our products and suppliers and sharing this information with customers

  • Preparing and serving food and drinks according to instructions, training and quality standards provided to you

  • Being proactive in keeping the whole workplace clean and tidy – instructing others as necessary

  • Serving alcohol according to our licencing restrictions and supervising others to ensure that they do the same

  • Keeping accurate records of sales and other matters as instructed

  • Ensuring the café is stocked – refilling fridges, shelves and cupboards from held stock wherever possible and identifying and recording low stock levels, re-ordering as necessary

  • Taking steps to ensure that the workplace is safe for everyone – customers and staff

  • Using initiative to contribute to the growth of the business

  • Identifying gaps in your knowledge and ability to deliver your responsibilities and seeking help to address them

  • Leading aspects of the promotion or development of the business – for example social media, newsletters, event booking or planning

  • Safely and securely opening and closing the business

  • Acting fairly, honestly and with the best interests of customers, your colleagues and the business at the heart of what you do when you’re at work

A more detailed job description is available on request.
